ABOUT US

Our Life at a French Carp Fishery

We are Paul and Kelly Copperwaite, the owners of Villedieu Lake. We would love to tell you a little about ourselves and the story behind our French carp fishery.

We first came to France back in 2006 for a camping holiday – just us, the car and a tent. We completely fell in love with the country. The people, the food and, in particular, the French way of life captured our hearts.

Back then, we said that one day we would live in France. In 2021, we finally made that dream a reality, having bought our property here just over a year earlier.

A Love of Carp Fishing

Paul has an excellent knowledge of carp and carp fishing and has been a passionate carp angler for more than 30 years. He has also completed a Fisheries Management Course. Creating and running our own carp fishing lake therefore seemed like the perfect basis for our new life in France.

Kelly has a solid finance and business background, alongside a love of the outdoors. She also loves to cook and, in particular, bake – something our guests may get to enjoy during their stay!

More Than Just a Fishing Lake

For us, Villedieu Lake is about much more than simply providing somewhere to fish. We want our guests to relax, enjoy the beautiful French countryside and experience the peaceful surroundings. It’s this way of life that made us fall in love with this part of France in the first place.

We take great pride in our French carp fishery, its environment and, of course, the incredible carp that call Villedieu Lake home. Most importantly, we want every angler who visits us to feel welcome. We hope they leave with fantastic memories – and hopefully a few very special catches too!

Along with our gorgeous rescue dog Lola and cheeky Border Collie Lottie, we would love to welcome you to browse our website. You can discover more about Villedieu Lake and explore the local area before your visit.

We hope to see you soon!
