The Swims at Villedieu Lake

Villedieu Lake offers 12 well-positioned swims around our beautiful 18-acre lake, giving anglers access to a wide variety of water, depths and features.

From the deeper water towards the dam to the shallower areas around the island, each swim offers something different. With gravel, sand and silt areas, old stream beds, tree stumps, overhanging margins and small areas of weed to explore, there are plenty of opportunities to find and target feeding carp.

With more than 400 carp in the lake, including fish to over 60lb, choosing your swim is all part of the Villedieu experience. Below you can explore each of our swims, the water they command and some of the key features to look out for.

Paval's Point – PP, PP1, PP2 & PP3

Paval’s Point is one of the most sociable areas of Villedieu Lake, with four swim positions – PP, PP1, PP2 and PP3 – making it a great choice for anglers who want to fish together while still having plenty of water to explore.

From this side of the lake, anglers can cover a large proportion of the water, with options to fish towards the dam wall as well as a variety of open-water and margin areas. The different positions give plenty of scope to move your rods and adapt your approach as the fish move around the lake.

Paval’s Point also benefits from its own shelter and a composting toilet, making it a particularly comfortable and convenient area for your fishing trip.

KC's - KC1 & KC2

Situated at the shallow end of the lake, KC’s offers two swim positions – KC1 and KC2 – and is a great area for one or two anglers looking for plenty of water to explore.

From here, you can fish towards the inlets on either side of the far end of the lake, as well as exploring the shallower water and surrounding margins. With two positions available, KC’s works equally well for a single angler wanting plenty of space or two anglers fishing together.

The swim has its own shelter and a composting toilet. Access is a little more adventurous – depending on whether the cows are in the adjoining field, your equipment will either be dropped off for you or transported across the lake by boat.

Willow View

Willows is a lovely swim that commands a generous amount of water, giving anglers plenty of options to explore throughout their stay.

One of the main features of this swim is the opportunity to fish towards and up the side of the island, as well as covering open water and the surrounding margins. Its position provides plenty of scope to vary your approach as the carp move around the lake.

Willows has its own shelter and shares a nearby composting toilet with Paval’s Point, making it a comfortable and convenient swim for a week on the bank.

Tommy's

Tommy’s is a spacious swim with a large expanse of water in front of you and plenty of options for finding and targeting the carp as they move through this area of the lake.

From here, you can fish towards the island from the opposite side to Willows, as well as exploring the open water and margins around the swim. With so much water available, there is plenty of scope to vary your approach throughout your stay.

Tommy’s also has its own shelter and a composting toilet, providing a comfortable base for your week at Villedieu.

Choosing Your Swim

Every swim at Villedieu offers something a little different, and where the carp are showing can change throughout the week depending on the conditions.

We’re always happy to share what we’ve been seeing around the lake and point you towards areas that have been producing fish. You can also take a look at The Catches to see some of the carp caught around Villedieu and where recent successes have come from.

Part of the Villedieu experience is exploring the water, watching for signs of carp and making your own decisions about where and how to fish.

On single-angler weeks, where several anglers have booked individually, swim choice can be decided by a draw on arrival, giving everyone a fair opportunity to choose their preferred swim.
