THE LAKE RULES
These rules are put in place to protect the fish and the wildlife here at Villedieu Lake.
- NO KILL Fishing Policy
- Maximum of 3 rods per angler (No rods to be left unattended when lines are in the water)
- All Weigh Slings, Retaining Slings & Landing Nets, Unhooking Mats, Tripod and Scales will be supplied. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN, but don’t forget your waders!

- No braided main lines
- Minimum of 18lb breaking strain line or 0.40 diameter. This is recommended as there are some snags. Please ensure that you have plenty of line as we are a big lake and you could potentially be fishing up to 280 metres.
- No lead core leaders or leaders allowed, minimum of 16 inches of rig tubing to be used
- Barbless hooks only – NO LONG SHANK HOOKS (Please do not crush your barbs)
- Please retain the fish for no longer than 5 – 10 minutes to allow them to recover prior to photographs being taken, and for you to organise everything for a good photo and the best fish care. (see video) FISH MUST NOT BE OUT OF THE WATER FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES! (These are our pets so please take care of them) We also reserve the right to ask you to take images in the water in hot weather conditions.
- All weighing and photography must be done within the confines of the swim. Anglers must be low to the ground (NO STANDING UP WHEN HOLDING FISH!) when weighing and photographing fish and anyone found to not comply with this important rule will be banned from the Fishery with immediate effect.
- No fixed leads. All leads must eject if the line breaks
- No artificial or plastic baits allowed (including foam) this is due to break-offs, this rig will always be live at the bottom of the lake
- No shelf life boilies allowed (Fresh boilies are available to purchase on site)
- No nuts or particles of any kind (Bait is available to purchase on site)
- Only Maize purchased onsite can be used
- NO DRUGS this will lead to an instant ban and you’ll be asked to leave with no refund of any monies paid
- Drink responsibly (accidents that happen under the influence of Alcohol are not covered by French Public Liability). If we deem you to not be suitable to fish we will reel in your lines and you may be asked to leave
- Swims to be kept clean, all rubbish must be binned (including Cigarette butts!). Please keep all glass separate from general refuse as this will not be taken by the bin men, glass MUST be recycled
- In France the recycling is a big problem and we cannot get rid of waste if it is not recycled properly. Therefor we will require a €10 /£10 per angler deposit which will be returned if all recycling is organised properly. If we have to do this for you, the deposit will be kept.
- Toilet and Shower must be kept clean at all times, please respect the person that needs to go in after you
- DO NOT POOP IN THE WOODS, we have toilets and these should be used!

- In the unlikely event that Villedieu Lake has to cancel, suspend or shorten fishing due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including water quality or oxygen-related incidents, extreme weather, flooding, drought, fish health or welfare concerns or other environmental issues, we will offer a refund, alternative date or other appropriate solution for the affected fishing booking.
- Villedieu Lake cannot accept responsibility for any additional costs incurred as a result of a cancellation or disruption, including ferry or Eurotunnel tickets, flights, fuel, tolls, accommodation, vehicle hire or other travel expenses. We strongly recommend that all anglers have appropriate travel insurance in place.
- We hope that everyone respects our rules. However, anyone who fails to comply may be asked to leave the fishery. If this happens, no refund will be given.
